Updates to Codes, Principles and Recommendations and Practice Quality Framework

The following documents have been reviewed and updated:

They will come into effect from the 2021.1 training term which commences on 1 February 2021.

The Codes, Principles and Recommendations “The Codes” and the Practice Quality Framework “The Quality Framework” are two key documents that outline the responsibilities and expectations for practices involved in training of GP Synergy AGPT registrars.

The Codes is aimed at supporting supervisors and training practices to evaluate their capacity and preparedness to engage with GP Synergy as a general practice training practice. It is also aimed at providing helpful information in the promotion of the training practice. The Codes outlines all the requirements and expectations of a training practice.

Recent updates include:

  1. Updates to the supervision and teaching requirements in line with changes to the RACGP standards
  2. Updates to include components of programmatic assessment
  3. Addition of Principle #4 Registrars participating on the VMO roster.

For The Codes there will be a transition period from now until the beginning of the 2021.1 training term, these requirements will come into effect from 1 February 2021.1.

The Quality Framework is the framework used by GP Synergy for the accreditation and reaccreditation of new practices and ensures that training practices are supported to provide a safe and supportive environment for registrars that exposes them to holistic care, behaviours and attributes that are markers of the ‘good doctor’.

The Quality Framework has been in place since February 2019.

Recent updates include:

  1. Clarification on the definition of the four quality standards (section 1)
  2. Explanation about how The Quality Framework is applied (section 4)
  3. Minor updates to criteria (section 5)
  4. Information on how compliance with the framework is managed (section 6)
