Training regions
Training regions
Across Australia there are 11 training regions, managed by nine Regional Training Organisations that deliver the AGPT program.
GP Synergy delivers a diverse range of GP training experiences across the three NSW/ACT training regions - North Eastern NSW, Lower Eastern NSW and Western NSW.
GP Synergy subregions
Each GP Synergy training region is divided into subregions in which registrars are allocated at the time of training offer. Applicants will be allocated to a subregion on the basis of merit or via subregion priority preferencing. Find out more about subregion allocation in our applicant pack.
GP Synergy registrars are required to undertake all of their GP term training within the training region that they have been allocated.
Transfers
Applicants should only accept a training offer if they can meet the training location obligation requirements for the subregion in which they have been offered a training place.
Requests for transfers are not frequently granted. They require demonstration and evidence of extraordinary and unforeseen circumstances, and may require approval from the Department of Health. The arrival of children, mortgages and partner’s employment are not deemed to be extraordinary or unforeseen.
