About the PGPPP program
The Prevocational General Practice Placements Program (PGPPP) sought to provide prevocational doctors with an opportunity to experience general practice during their hospital training.
Under the PGPPP program doctors undertook a 10-11 week rotation in an accredited GP training practice. They had their own consulting room and saw their own patients with on-site supervision from an experienced GP supervisor, supported by weekly teaching sessions and an education program.
The PGPPP term was an accredited hospital term and during the rotation the junior doctor remained an employee of their hospital.
Due to changes in the Federal budget, the PGPPP program ceased at the end of the 2014 training year.
