The RACGP stage 2 assessment with GP Synergy will be in the format of Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs).
Applicants will be required to answer five interview questions, asked by five different interviewers. Applicants will have eight minutes to answer each question and will have two minutes reading time.
For information about the interview content and how to prepare, please contact the RACGP.
We are unable to accept preference requests in advance. This is because we will not know if you have been successful in passing the stage 1 assessment. Interview bookings will be made via a booking platform on a first come first served basis.
GP Synergy will consider applications for remote interviews for applicants experiencing extenuating circumstances only.
Applications for a remote interview must be made using the Remote Interview Application Form and submitted by the deadline. A GP Synergy staff member will contact you on receipt of the form.
If you are late to your interview you will not be able to join your allocated timeslot. Allocation to another time/date cannot be guaranteed.
If you experience exceptional circumstances and you cannot attend your allocated interview date you must contact GP Synergy ASAP on the contact details provided in your interview request email. Please note: We cannot guarantee additional interview spaces on other times/dates will be available.
Within each NSW/ACT training region (Western NSW, North Eastern NSW and Lower Eastern NSW) there are different subregions. Applicants who are successful in being offered a training place will be allocated to a subregion on offer, and will be required to complete their GP term training within this subregion.
Training offers, and subregion allocation, will be made by on the basis of their stage 2 assessment MMI score up to the number of training places available. Subregion priority preferencing is available to some applicants.
Further about our subregions and training location requirements is outlined in the GP Synergy Applicant Pack.
As each training region may be shortlisted more applicants than there are places available, not all applicants may receive an offer.
Unsuccessful candidates may invited to participate in a subsequent round of selection, however it is important to note there is no guarantee of subsequent rounds, and if there are, the number and location of training places may be limited.
After you accept an offer, you will be required to complete an orientation and induction module, and contact us to arrange an induction meeting with a medical educator. This may be by phone, zoom or face to face.
During this meeting, the medical educator will talk to you about your experience and training plans including mandatory terms, recognition of prior learning and how the GP term placement process works, amongst other things.
If you decline your training offer, you may be invited to participate in a second intake. However, there is no guarantee of a second intake, and if there is one, the number and location of training places may be limited.
If you are successful in being shortlisted in second intake, you will be required to attend another interview/MMI with the Regional Training Organisation (RTO) of that training region. If you are shortlisted to a GP Synergy training region, you will be required to participate in another MMI with GP Synergy.
PLEASE NOTE: You are unable to be shortlisted to the same pathway and region combination that you may have declined an offer for, or not being successful in being made an offer for in the first intake.
Scores from previous MMIs will not be able to be used.
Please ensure you request a copy of the GP Synergy Applicant Pack if you haven’t already. It is an expectation that all GP Synergy applicants have read this pack prior to applying.
