A rural town in the Orana region of NSW, Narromine is the gliding capital of Australia.
Narromine is only 45 km (35 min drive) from Dubbo, and it is 440 km (5 hr 30 min drive) from Sydney.
The Macquarie River passes through the town, providing opportunities for outdoor activities. However, it is the skies above Narromine that make it famous as a gliding destination. Narromine has some of the world’s best thermal winds.
The closest airport for commercial flights is Dubbo Regional Airport, a 30 min drive from Narromine. Flights are available to numerous destinations with Qantas, Regional Express (REX), JetGo and FlyPelican.
Dubbo station is the terminus for a daily NSW TrainLink XPT service from Sydney. A TrainLink coach links up with the XPT train at Dubbo and travels to Narromine.
Narromine Health Service is a small rural public hospital and health service, with less than 50 beds, that provides emergency care, acute and sub-acute inpatient services, post-natal care, residential aged care and a range of primary and community health services.
