Location

Narromine is only 45 km (35 min drive) from Dubbo, and it is 440 km (5 hr 30 min drive) from Sydney.

The Macquarie River passes through the town, providing opportunities for outdoor activities. However, it is the skies above Narromine that make it famous as a gliding destination. Narromine has some of the world’s best thermal winds.

How to get there

The closest airport for commercial flights is Dubbo Regional Airport, a 30 min drive from Narromine. Flights are available to numerous destinations with Qantas, Regional Express (REX), JetGo and FlyPelican.

Dubbo station is the terminus for a daily NSW TrainLink XPT service from Sydney. A TrainLink coach links up with the XPT train at Dubbo and travels to Narromine.

Population

Narromine has a population of nearly 5000 people, the median age of residents is 41 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make up 21.1% of the population.
