Milton

Set amidst lush farmland, Milton is starting to meld with the neighbouring coastal towns of Mollymook and Ulladulla, but also provides a contrast to the two neighbouring towns.

Population

The population of Milton is 1,449 and is comprised of approximately 55.0% females and 45.0% males. Milton has a population of 16 (1.1%) indigenous people and a median age of 51.

Location

Milton is three hour scenic drive from Sydney or around two and a half hours from Canberra and only a seven minute drive to the coast.

Transport links

Regional Express (REX airlines) offers daily flights to Moruya Airport (one hour from Milton) from Sydney. Regular City Rail train services are available departing Sydney from Central Station and heading south to Bomaderry where the South Coast line ends.

The Premier Transport Group run coaches from Ulladulla to the Bomaderry railway station.

Healthcare facilities

Milton Ulladulla Hospital is rural acute facility that provides services including emergency, general medical and minor surgical services, low risk obstetrics, ambulatory care and oncology outpatients services for the southern Shoalhaven.

Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is the closest large hospital (50 minutes from Ulladulla) and is a busy acute care facility which provides which provides emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. The Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit that incorporates High Dependency and Coronary Care beds. As well as these clinical services, the hospital has a busy Obstetric Unit and Children’s Ward.

Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is affiliated with the University of Wollongong and the University of NSW. This hospital is fully accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).

Milton is supported by the Ulladulla ambulance service.

Surrounded by the rural pastures of working dairy farms and overlooked by the iconic Pigeon House Mountain in the Budawang ranges, Milton is just a few kilometres from some of the world’s most beautiful white sand beaches, coastal lakes, inlets and rivers.

The village boasts art galleries and antique vendors, alfresco cafes and fine-dining restaurants, sophisticated fashion boutiques and contemporary home-ware stores. The iconic Milton Theatre features regular local productions and international artists.

For some old fashioned fun for the kids visit Funland or the Arcadia Cinema in Ulladulla.
