Kandos is a small, quaint town located in the beautiful Capertee Valley, the world’s second largest canyon.

Location

Kandos is 230 km (3 hr 20 min drive) north-west of Sydney. The larger town of Mudgee is 64 km (less than an hour drive) to the north west of Kandos.

How to get there

The nearest commercial airport is Mudgee Airport (about an hour drive to the north west), regular flights to Sydney are available with FlyPelican.

The nearest railway station is at Lithgow, just over an hour’s drive to the south. A NSW TrainLink coach service operates providing a connection with Lithgow and interurban train service to Sydney.

Population

Kandos has a population of just over 1300 people, the median age of residents is 52 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make up 5% of the population.
