It is a busy acute care facility which provides which provides emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. The Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit that incorporates High Dependency and Coronary Care beds. As well as these clinical services, the hospital has a busy Obstetric Unit and Children’s Ward.
Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is affiliated with the University of Wollongong and the University of NSW. This hospital is fully accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).

The nearby regional centre of Nowra is home to a number of supermarkets including Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and IGA and major retail outlets including Target, K Mart, Cotton On, Spotlight, Officeworks and Barbeques Galore. The Stockland Shopping Centre houses many well-known stores and brands.
There are a number of places of worship in Berry including Catholic, Anglican, Uniting and Baptist churches. The nearest Buddhist Temple (Nan Tien) is in Berkeley (45 minutes from Berry) and the closest mosque (Omar Mosque) is in Gwynneville (just under 1 hour from Berry).
Points of Interest
Just over ten minutes’ drive from Berry you will find Shoalhaven Heads, the gateway to Gerroa and Seven Mile Beach National Park. This tremendous stretch of beach and national park provides great areas for picnics, and also contains barbecue amenities.
Nearby Nowra offers monthly artisan markets at the City Art Gallery and the increasingly popular Twilight Markets on the grass outside the Entertainment Centre during summer. The Shoalhaven City Arts Centre houses an ever changing array of excellent works by local artists and Nowra has a strong sports orientation so there’s plenty to do whatever your interest.
