Things we’ve learnt from ReCEnT: mental health

Analyses of Registrar Clinical Encounters in Training (ReCEnT) data tell us that 8.3% of the problems/diagnoses registrars see are psychological problems. At least one psychological problem is seen in 11.6% of registrars’ consultations. This is marginally less than seen by GPs in the Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH) study.

In 61.8% of consultations with patients with psychological problems the registrar also saw a physical problem.
