Support for registrars during COVID-19 - GP Synergy

Support for registrars during COVID-19

We recognise this is a difficult time for registrars who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. We are aware that some registrars have concerns about reduced scope of practice, patient numbers and other impacts to their training.

We continue to work with our partners on the broader issues around the impacts on GP training.

In the interim, we are offering the following supports for all registrars.

Confidential counselling sessions

GP Synergy registrars can now access two confidential counselling sessions through Relationships Australia. To access this service, call 1300 364 277 or visit the website for more information https://www.relationships.org.au/. When making bookings, please let them know you are a GP Synergy registrar.

The above is in addition to counselling services provided through your college:

  • RACGP GP Support Program: Three free one-hour sessions with a psychologist face-to-face or by telephone. RACGP members also have access to counselling for traumatic incidents or crisis situations. This service is available 24 hours, seven days a week.
  • ACRRM: Complementary access to ACRRM Employee Assistance Program for immediate confidential counselling support 24/7. Phone 1800 818 728 to access this member service.

Health and well-being reimbursement

In recognition of the need for registrars to take care of their own well-being, GP Synergy is offering a reimbursement of up to $200 for any health and well-being program/s or any educational or training resource/s which will help at this time.

Examples include but are not limited to, online gym membership or other well-being subscriptions, online educational resources such as a part contribution to Up-To-Date or exam course, or equipment to help with telehealth such as a Zoom subscription or camera.

Claims can be made using the Registrar Well-being General Expense Form, with copies of receipt/s, from now until 31 July 2020. Please see the COVID-19 registrar well-being subsidy page on GPRime for the claim form and more information. You can find this on GPRime under ‘Forms, documents and links’ by searching ‘COVID’.

Please also visit our website for further well-being resources, and please don’t hesitate to contact your medical educator if you require any assistance.
