Study of non-pharmacological management of congestive heart failure

GP Synergy North Coast registrars are invited to participate in an interview study conducted by 4th year medical students from the Western Sydney University under the supervision of Dr Jo Longman from the University Centre for Rural Health, Lismore.

This study aims to identify the various barriers and enablers experienced by Australian rural general practitioners when managing congestive heart failure (CHF) in community dwelling patients. While various barriers and enablers faced by GPs managing CHF have been identified in international literature, little evidence exists relating to the experience of Australian rural GPs.

If you participate in the study you will be asked to participate in a semi-structured interview concerning the barriers and enablers you have encountered while managing CHF. Following this discussion, you will be given the opportunity to identify barriers you have experienced from a list of most frequently mentioned management issues and rate their relative importance.

If you would like to find out more about the project, please contact Dr Jo Longman on 02 6620 7570.
