About the RACGP

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) is Australia’s largest professional general practice organisation, with 40,000 urban and rural general practitioner members.
Applications to the RACGP AGPT fellowship pathway can be made as early as intern year.
Applications for the 2023 AGPT RACGP program are now closed.
The RACGP AGPT fellowship pathway is three years, with an optional fourth year in rural generalism. Training is undertaken in a combination of hospital and general practice community settings.
General and rural pathways are available under the RACGP AGPT pathway.
NSW and ACT offers a diverse range of training locations and experiences. There are three training regions to choose from, which are divided into subregions led by regional medical education teams. Registrars are allocated to a subregion based on their preference and score at the time of offer into the program, and undertake their GP term training within their subregion.
Under the RACGP fellowship pathway, training time may be able to be reduced by up to 12 months.
In preparation for entry into a GP setting, RACGP registrars are required to complete specific hospital rotations before starting a GP term.
Alternatives may apply for doctors whose training has been impacted by COVID-19.
Part-time training options are available under the RACGP fellowship pathway.
Please see the Full-time and Part-Time FAQs for more information.
During training, registrars participate in a range of formative assessments to monitor and provide feedback about their performance.
After completion of two years of training time and the second GP term (GPT2), registrars can sit the RACGP Fellowship assessments:

- Key Feature Problem Exam (written case-based) – $2350 approx
