North Coast seasonal celebration - GP Synergy

North Coast seasonal celebration

The last of our 2019 seasonal celebrations was held in Coffs Harbour on the 5 December for our North Coast subregion. It was a lovely evening of celebrating commitment to quality GP training.

North Coast Supervisor of the Year Award – Dr Marion Tait

Dr Marion Tait is a GP supervisor at Bulgarr Ngaru Aboriginal Medical Corporation in Casino. Marion has supervised many registrars since being a supervisor at Bulgarr Ngaru, the quality of her supervision is confirmed by the many registrars continuing to work there once fellowed. She is a wonderful role model, always advocating strongly for her patients and providing high quality care, she takes this responsibility beyond the practice and out into the community. Registrars admire her ability to enhance their learning by creating a culture of constant learning and enquiry, providing them with culturally sensitive training, and ensuring their wellbeing.

North Coast Practice Manager of the Year Award – Dianne Kerr

Di is the practice manager at Goonellabah Medical Centre, where she is instrumental in providing a positive workplace culture for all staff, and particularly GP registrars. Di is organised and efficient, ensuring that teaching sessions are scheduled, time is allocated for training days, and that the day-to-day running of the practice is seamless. She has her registrars’ best interests at heart and goes the extra mile to ensure their wellbeing – with everything from birthday cakes and welcome dinners to checking in when she knows they’re having a tough time and providing flexibility in working arrangements when required. Registrars are very appreciative of all Di’s behind the scene work to ensure that the practice runs seamlessly.

North Coast Registrar of the Year Award – Dr Ariana Arulampalam

Dr Ariana Arulampalam is currently based at Dorrigo Health and Wellbeing, where she is well on her way to fellowship with ACRRM. In addition to applying herself in all placements she has embraced the opportunity to become involved in the communities she has worked in. Ariana has achieved subspecialty qualifications in obstetrics and gynaecology and is pursuing career options based on population health requirements where her skills can best be applied. She has also expressed a keen interest in registrar education, exploring opportunities to make a larger contribution in that area.

North Coast Staff Member of the Year Award – Sue Sladden

Sue is the Accreditation Team Leader, based in our Ballina office. Sue has always provided a high level of accreditation advice and support to supervisors and practices, culminating in her recent promotion to team leader. Sue is proactive with sharing her knowledge of accreditation processes, particularly in providing training and support to new team members. She is always flexible in stepping in to assist members of the team as required, even if that means travel to other parts of the state. She has also constructively assisted in the development and trial of an accreditation and compliance watch system in GPRime.
