Have you thought about starting your procedural skills log?

Home / Have you thought about starting your procedural skills log?

Currently an optional assessment tool, the procedural log will become mandatory for all RACGP registrars commencing their first GP term in 2020.1 and beyond as part of the new programmatic assessment program.

The procedural log can be found in GPRime under the ‘Procedural log’ tab on the left-hand toolbar.

You can start to complete items on the procedural log in advance of commencing a GP term and we recommend that you do this if you are currently working in the hospital environment. To do this, you will need to complete the ‘Procedural skills – assessment outside of a GP term’ form on GPRime (search “Procedural” in ‘Forms, Documents and Links’) and have it signed off by a hospital supervisor. You are then required to submit the form to your medical educator for approval. When you move into a GP term, your supervisor will approve your procedural log submissions.

Further information can be found in the procedural log helpsheet on GPRime under ‘Forms, Documents and Links’ – just search ‘log’.

ACRRM registrars are not required to complete the GP Synergy procedural log as this requirement is already met through the existing ACRRM procedural log which ACRRM registrars are required to continue completing.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your local education coordinator if you require any assistance accessing your procedural log, and we look forward to sharing further details of the new programmatic assessment program with you next year.
