Griffith Rural Training Pathway – five AST positions

The Griffith Rural Training Pathway provides 24 months GP procedural training. The first 12 months will be in emergency medicine and the second 12 months will be in your choice of five Advanced Skills Training (AST) positions. Positions are full-time.

Who can apply?

Doctors intending to join a general practice training program, GP registrars currently enrolled in vocational GP training with ACRRM or RACGP or Fellowed GPs are eligible for the training positions.

AST positions

  • GP Obstetrics & Gynaecology 
    The GP O&G Training Position is accredited with DRANZCOG (Advanced), RACGP and ACRRM. Training will be provided by specialist obstetrician gynaecologists and GP obstetricians.

The following positions are part of a four-year program, which prepares doctors to become a rural procedural GP with FACRRM or FRACGP and FARGP. The emergency medicine year is accredited for six months extended skills with RACGP or Primary Rural and Remote Training with ACRRM.

  • GP Emergency Medicine / Adult Internal Medicine
    The advanced skills in Adult Internal Medicine is accredited with RACGP and ACRRM as an Advanced Skills Training position.
  • GP Emergency Medicine / Anaesthetics 
    The advanced skills in Anaesthesia (JCCA) is accredited with RACGP and ACRRM as an Advanced Skills Training position.
  • GP Emergency Medicine / Obstetrics & Gynaecology 
    The advanced skills in O&G (DRANZCOG Advanced) is accredited with RACGP and ACRRM as an Advanced Skills Training position.
  • GP Emergency Medicine / Paediatrics
    The advanced skills in Paediatrics (Diploma of Child Health) is accredited with RACGP and ACRRM as an Advanced Skills Training position.
  • GP Emergency Medicine (2 years)
    The advanced skills in Emergency Medicine with completion of the Emergency Medicine Diploma (ACEM) is accredited with RACGP and ACRRM as an Advanced Skills Training position.
