The General Practice Training and Education Conference (GPTEC) 2019 was held in Melbourne 3 – 5 September 2019. The conference is the only Australian conference that focuses on training and education for GP registrars. Attendees included medical and cultural educators, GP supervisors, registrars, medical students, junior doctors and administrative teams from organisations in the GP training space.
Given the evolving nature of the GP training landscape, the conference theme was reflecting, reigniting and revitalising. With 670 delegates, the conference provides a great opportunity to network and catch-up with research and innovation around GP training.
GP Synergy staff presented or co-authored 19 papers/sessions at the conference including 10 presentations from our Research and Evaluation Unit, for more information about their papers head to Research and Evaluation Unit.
Highlights of the conference included keynote addresses from internationally renowned engineer for humanity Dr Jordan Nguyen, and Rev Tim Costello currently World Vision Australia’s Chief Advocate and Executive Director of Micah Australia.
The forum facilitated by Dr Jeff McMullen AM included an invited expert panel including Jessica Yang (2019 President of the Australian Medical Students’ Association), Dr Harry Nespolon (President RACGP), Dr Ewen McPhee (President ACRRM) and Emeritus Professor Paul Worley (National Rural Health Commissioner).
