GP Synergy Supervisor Dr Linda Mann wins RACGP 2014 Supervisor of the Year Award

A hearty congratulations goes to long-standing GP Synergy GP Supervisor, Dr Linda Mann, on being awarded the 2014 RACGP GP Supervisor of the Year at the GP14 conference.Dr_Linda_Mann_NSW_GP_Training_GP_Synergy_Supervisor_Year_Lge

Dr Mann has been supervising GP registrars and medical students at her inner west Sydney practices for over 24 years. Many of the doctors working there today are former registrars and now GP supervisors – a testimony to Linda’s success both as a teacher, and as a role model for the profession.

Linda’s commitment and passion for teaching the next generation of GPs knows no bounds; recently she became accredited to supervise GP registrars at a clinic in Borroloola – a remote Northern Territory community.

In addition to training registrars ‘on the job’, Linda has been actively involved in the formal delivery of vocational and prevocational education. In 2010, she stepped in as Acting Director of Training for GP Synergy’s former Director of Training Dr Jeremy Bunker, who lost a hard fought battle with cancer; she was also the inaugural Director of Prevocational Training for GP Synergy’s Prevocational General Practice Placements Program (PGPPP).

Linda has a broad and deep commitment to general practice.  She is a past RACGP representative on the Editorial Panel for Diabetes Management in General Practice.  She was the inaugural chair of the Inner West Sydney Medicare Local and is currently the clinical lead for their Health Pathways project.  She was also involved in the development of OzDocsOnline.

Linda is a shining example of compassion in general practice and an advocate of quality care for the disadvantaged.  In addition to spending time in remote areas of the Northern Territory, she runs the Young Parents Antenatal Clinic at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and is a long standing advocate for improving care for the disabled.

GP Synergy is delighted that Linda has been awarded this prestigious national award. She is a tireless contributor to GP training and primary healthcare with boundless energy and genuine passion for helping doctors reach their GP aspirations.

Three cheers for Linda!
