GP Synergy Board reappointments announced

GP Synergy welcomes the reappointment of A/Prof Michelle Guppy, Dr Elizabeth Marles and Mr Damon Rees to the GP Synergy Board. GP Synergy extends its sincere thanks to retiring Director Dr Fiona Robinson.

Dr Ian Kamerman has been elected as Chair, and Dr Michael Bonning as Deputy Chair.

The reappointment of the three Directors to the Board was welcomed by Dr Kamerman.

“A/Prof Guppy, Dr Marles and Mr Rees bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in their respective fields to the Board and we are delighted to retain their expertise,” he said.

A/Prof Michelle Guppy has been a Director since GP Synergy’s conception in 2009, when the Sydney Institute of Education and Training (SIGPET) amalgamated with the New England Area Training Scheme (NEATS). She is currently A/Prof of General Practice at the School of Rural Medicine, University of New England, and conjoint with the University of Newcastle, and Chair of the New England Division of General Practice.

Dr Elizabeth Marles has been a GP Synergy Director since 2016 with a long-standing involvement in GP training. She is the Director of the Hornsby-Brooklyn GP Unit and former RACGP president. Dr Marles is a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee and Chair of Therapeutic Guidelines.

Mr Damon Rees has been a Director since 2014. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Service NSW, and previously the NSW Government’s first Chief Information and Digital Officer and Deputy Secretary of ICT and Digital Government within the Department of Finance, Services and Innovation.

Dr Kamerman paid tribute to retiring Director, Dr Fiona Robinson.

“Dr Robinson has served the Board since 2016, during which time her experience and expertise in medical education has been highly valued.

“On behalf of the GP Synergy Board, I sincerely thank Dr Robinson for her commitment and contribution,” he said.
