GP Synergy Awards 2021 – Dr Charlotte Hespe Research Award
Dr Charlotte Hespe Research Award - Dr Katie Fisher
Dr Katie Fisher is currently completing an Advanced Academic term with the University of Newcastle - Discipline of General Practice and in a GPT3 term at Mayfield Medical Connection. Katie is also a Registrar Liaison Officer for the Hunter, Manning and Central Coast subregion. Katie’s research project exploring GP registrars’ telehealth use in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic has made an outstanding contribution to general practice research. This important research will no doubt fill some of the evidence gap in relation to registrars’ use of telehealth, particularly how it has affected registrar training and clinical practice, and in turn inform training and educational practice. Working with the GP Synergy Research and Evaluation team, Katie has also made important contributions to the ChAP II antibiotic stewardship educational project and the QUIT-CA ReCEnT sub-study into low-value clinical care. Earlier this year Katie was also awarded the 2021 RACGP Foundation Charles Bridges-Webb Memorial Award in recognition of her academic work.
