Central, Eastern and South Western Sydney Supervisor of the Year – Dr Damien Bray
Dr Damien Bray has been a long-term GP supervisor at his practice, Burraneer Family Practice. The feedback from registrars has been consistent as they have great respect for him as a supervisor and his commitment to their training. Damien is also involved in additional activities including as a clinical teaching visitor. In the words of a registrar: “Dr Bray modelled an evidence-based, thoughtful and caring approach to general practice that I was excited to model, he taught me using a various array of techniques to grow my knowledge, he cared for me holistically and he has given his time and energy to the development of GP Synergy through his work amongst other supervisors”.
Central, Eastern and South Western Sydney Registrar of the Year – Dr Isabel Hanson
Dr Isabel Hanson is a GPT2 registrar at Leichhardt GP where she has impressed with her keenness to learn and to commit to quality care for her patients. She is frequently the first one to put up her hand for extra projects and learnings, actively helping with the COVID response as a leader within the team as well as volunteering for the role of Clinical Lead for the QUEL Heart Disease Collaborative project. She continues her work with RPAH MDOK, supporting wellness for doctors and features in the onthewards blog and podcast, educating junior doctors, especially around wellness and the career of general practice. She is a role model of self-care and commitment to personal health.
Central, Eastern and South Western Sydney Practice Manager of the Year – Heather Farlow
Ms Heather Farlow is the practice manager at Bondi Road Doctors and East Sydney Doctors, supporting doctors, staff and registrars across both sites. She is passionate about her role as a practice manager, she is a member of the Australian Association of Practice Management NSW/ACT Committee, facilitates breakfast networking groups supporting other practices and their managers. Heather has helped GP registrars for more than 15 years find their feet in general practice and still has contact with many who have completed part of their journey with both practices, some who have stayed on once successfully achieving fellowship. She is the lynch pin for the practice and registrars and in the words of one registrar: “Her leadership style is warm, patient and caring, she nurtures the registrars and always looks out for our wellbeing.”
