Below is a list of useful resources relating to doctor health and wellbeing:

  1. Keeping the doctor alive is a handbook created by the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) that provides self-care techniques for health professionals. It incorporates a series of activities designed to provide insight into your own personal stressors and aspects of your personality that may contribute to stress, as well as preventative techniques to allow you to combat stressors. It can be used individually or in a small group. It is available to members of the RACGP.
  2. Doctors’ Health Services (drs4drs) is a subsidiary company of the Australian Medical Association (AMA), functioning as an independent entity to provide a confidential national health program for doctors and medical students in Australia.
  3. – A website to promote the health and wellbeing of junior doctor. This website includes self-assessment tools, vignettes and exercises for reducing stress. It is an initiative of the Doctors’ Health Advisory Service (NSW), the Medical Benevolent Association, the AMA Doctors in Training Group, the Resident Medical Officers’ Associations, the Australian Medical Students’ Association, the Clinical Education and Training Institute and the NSW Employee Assistance Program with funding from the Medical Board of NSW.
