Dr Nicole Chater, The Village Medical Practice

Why did you decide to undertake the PGPPP placement?

I undertook the placement as I am thinking about specialising in general practice.

What did you find were the most enjoyable aspects of the placement?

The general practice term offered a great work life balance. The practice had friendly staffs that were always happy to see you. There was a lot of problem solving, different presentations and complex/vague symptoms that were sometimes difficult to diagnose.

Would you recommend the term to junior doctors already considering GP?

If you are considering general practice as a speciality I believe it is a good term to do so you know what to expect.

Would you recommend the term to junior doctors not considering GP?

I think it is important for those who are not considering general practice so they better understand the complexity of being a general practitioner.

What were some of the clinical presentations you saw during your placement?

  • Pap smears
  • Sick children
  • Asthma attack
  • Back pain
  • Mental health
  • Pneumonia in a child
  • Fevers
  • STI infections

How would you describe your supervision during the term?

My supervisors were very helpful and supportive.

How would you describe the support and education provided by GP Synergy during the term?

I was offered very good support by the team at GP Synergy.
