In late 2018, the RACGP received feedback from stakeholders that the requirements set out in Criterion C3.6 – Research in the RACGP Standards for General Practices (5th edition) may have had an unintended restricting effect on general practice research.
A review and consultation process was undertaken to update the criterion and relevant explanatory notes. The updated criterion and explanatory note was endorsed by the RACGP Board on 26 September 2019. The online standards have been updated accordingly.
It is important to understand the potential risks that individual research activities may have on your practice and patients. You must confirm that the appropriate indemnity is in place for research, based on the research project’s level of risk.
As program manager of ReCEnT, GP Synergy has Professional Indemnity Cover that has an endorsement for Professional Services covering the ReCEnT project.
