Training the next generation of GPs takes a team effort, and at GP Synergy’s Seasonal Celebration and Awards Night in Bondi on Wednesday night outstanding GP registrars, GP supervisors, practice managers and GP Synergy staff were recognised.

GP Synergy CEO Mr John Oldfield said that the training of GP registrars relies heavily on local GPs and accredited general practices to ensure GP registrars receive the training they require to understand and meet the needs of local communities.

“With 335 accredited training facilities across Central, Eastern and South Western Sydney, training 370 registrars, the GP training network in the region deserves recognition.

“GP Synergy is committed to delivering a regionally-based training program that meets the needs of metropolitan, rural and remote communities,” Mr Oldfield said.

The awards recognise excellence and ongoing commitment to quality general practice education and training.

Central, Eastern and South Western Sydney Supervisor of the Year Award – Dr Fadi Abouzeid

Fadi is a supervisor at Campsie Medical and Dental Centre where he has been supervising registrars since 2014. His dedication to supervision of registrars goes beyond their placement with him, by continuing as a mentor and dedicating his own time to help his former trainees with exam preparation. One former registrar has said: I can say without a doubt that Dr Abouzeid has imparted to me his passion for general practice, his passion for practising high quality evidence-based medicine, and his passion for teaching and education.

Her rapport with patients is clear as patients have followed her as she has changed practices for training. It is obvious from nominations for this award her altruism is to highly admired.

Nicole is a Marketing and Events Coordinator based in our Chippendale office. In her role she is required to be responsive, flexible, highly organised and professional, and she does this with ease – and always with a smile. She is also always willing to help the rest of the team. Nicole’s high level of customer service makes supervisors and registrars feel appreciated, assured and welcomed to each event she coordinates.
