Supervisor of the Year | Dr Colin Gunter
Dr Colin Gunter is a GP at Carlingford – Epping Surgery and has special interests in paediatrics, antenatal care and medical education. He has been instrumental in providing quality education and training experiences for the registrars employed in his practice. With a clear and comprehensive understanding of the GP training program, he offers structured and insightful training. Registrars have provided excellent feedback about the way he teaches, mentors and supports them. He is a true role model to many people.
Practice Manager of the Year | Veronica Krzyszton
Veronica is the longstanding practice manager at Faulconbridge Health Centre which has supported 35 registrars in the last six years. She is committed to providing a great experience to registrars, offering them a conducive environment to work and learn in. She facilitates the placements at the practice by supporting the registrars from end to end, and interacting with GP Synergy to ensure a positive outcome for the registrars that are employed at the practice. Registrars appreciate how approachable and supportive she is about practice management issues such as billing and practice software.
Registrar of the Year | Dr Su-Yin Yeong
Dr Su-Yin Yeong is currently in her GPT2 term at Hunts Avenue Medical Practice in Eastwood and MyHealth Medical Centre in Meadowbank. Su has a keen interest in women’s health, children’s health and chronic disease. She also has an interest in academia and research. Recently Su wrote a research project titled ‘Rubella immunity and screening in women of childbearing age in Sydney general practice’ during her GP term with Dr Fiona Millard. They also gave a presentation together on ‘Registrar research for supervisors – Embracing registrar ideas/research’ at General Practice Training and Education Conference (GPTEC) at the Gold Coast this year. Su won the RACGP PWH Grieve Memorial Award which is designed to support a plan of study in medical education for a general practitioner or for research in general practice.
GP Synergy Employee of the Year | Emie Roy
Emie is the Practice Liaison and Support Officer (PLSO) for the Nepean, Western and Northern Sydney subregion. Emie has been a valuable member of the team since she started in the beginning of the year. As a previous employee of WentWest, Emie brought with her a wealth of knowledge about the practices in the Western Sydney and Nepean districts and she quickly upskilled in the Northern Sydney areas. Emie’s endless patience and humour has helped the team improve their service delivery, and assisted practices negotiate contracts, information technology platforms and policy changes leading to better experiences for supervisors and registrars on the ground.
