Supervisor of the Year | Dr Jo Crookes
Dr Jo Crookes is a GP at Phillip Medical and Dental Centre in Phillip ACT. A dedicated supervisor, Jo is an ardent believer of patient centred care and she is unparalleled in building rapport with patients. She is an inspirational role model, with one of her registrars stating “she has spurred me to seek and learn at every opportunity available. She is receptive to my ideas and approaches in patient care which has helped me thrive and build my confidence, and has shown me by example how GPs can make a positive difference in patients’ health and welfare. She inspires me every day and I look forward to coming to work to be a better at doctor as well as an individual.”
Practice Manager of the Year | Leanne Clee
Leanne is the longstanding practice manager at Cootamundra Medical Practice which has supported GP training for many years. Through the transition period Leanne has been a constructive source of feedback, always being positive and committed to providing a well-functioning teaching practice to support GP registrars.
Registrar of the Year | Dr Rachael Fikkers
Based in the Murrumbidgee area, Rachael first became interested in rural general practice during her rural medical student rotations before securing a rural cadetship. After completing medical school in Wollongong she moved to Wagga Wagga where she completed her residency and advanced diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology. Rachael has a passion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and has spent 18 months of her GP training at Riverina Medical and Dental Aboriginal Corporation in Wagga Wagga. Rachael provided great advocacy and support to her fellow GP registrars in her role as Registrar Liaison Officer (RLO) in the first half of 2016, during which she provided important support and guidance to registrars during GP Synergy transition period.
GP Synergy Employee of the Year | Jodie Hay
Jodie is the Practice Liaison and Support Officer (PLSO) based in the GP Synergy Wagga Wagga office. Jodie has worked tirelessly liaising with practices this year through the changes remaining committed, professional, and well respected. A practice manager in the area stated “Jodie has been extremely helpful over the past 10 months with the transiting of the training providers. I could not imagine doing my work without Jodie’s assistance. Jodie has a wealth of knowledge regarding all aspect of training our future GPs.”
