Supervisor of the Year | Dr Mark Peterson
Dr Mark Peterson has been a supervisor from the start of regionalised GP training. With his wife and fellow supervisor Clare van Rooy he runs a successful training practice in Bonnells Bay. Registrars consistently appreciate his enthusiasm and passion for teaching which is high quality and generous. He has been said to excel in all the roles of a supervisor – he gets to know his registrars and cares for them; acts as an excellent role model; oversees them carefully and gives honest and productive feedback. Mark also makes important contributions to GP training through involvement in selection interviews, exam preparation and focus groups.
Practice Manager of the Year | Anne Curtis
Anne has been practice manager at Forster Tuncurry Medical Centre for many years and has helped it become a flagship rural practice for GP training in the region. She effectively organises registrars into the practice and caringly supports them during their time there. Anne capably demonstrates the vital role of the practice manager in facilitating the registrars’ learning and experience in general practice. Many registrars, past and present, are grateful for what she does.
Registrar of the Year | Dr Ronald Wai
Currently training on the Central Coast of NSW, Dr Ronald Wai has been praised by his patients for his thoroughness and care and by practice staff for his considerate and hard working nature. His supervisor is impressed with his passion and drive. Ronald has demonstrated a keen interest in preventative health care and education. This has included engaging the local community by organising a high school art competition to promote better health.
GP Synergy Employee of the Year | Heidi Heinz
Heidi has done a fantastic job in her role as educational coordinator. In a very short space of time she learned an enormous amount about policies, procedures and systems while remaining level-headed and positive. More importantly, Heidi has developed a working knowledge of and supportive relationships with the registrars and is the vital link between medical educators and registrars. Heidi is incredibly well organised, resourceful and hard working. Her approach is always professional while being interested and caring. Her communication with registrars and fellow staff is exemplary.
