2021.2 re-enrolment registrar feedback outcomes
Every six months we ask registrars to provide feedback on key aspects of their training with GP Synergy through our re-enrolment process.
The de-identified survey findings are just one of many sources of feedback we use to better understand registrar needs. We also consider feedback from local Registrar Liaison Officers (RLOs), Training Coordinators (TCs), Medical Educators (MEs), and advocacy groups such as GPRA and AMA. In addition, we review feedback from the feedback form on our website, via our complaints and compliments register, and education evaluations.
In the 2021.2 feedback survey undertaken in April this year, feedback was collected from 1534 of a possible 1605 registrars (96%).
Results from the survey are currently being reviewed by the Senior Management Team and Education Executive, as well as the Committee Overseeing Registrar Education (CORE).
Below is a snapshot of the key findings.
Overall satisfaction remains high
Overall satisfaction with GP Synergy amongst registrar respondents remains high at 83%, in line with 84% the previous term. 2% of respondents made positive comments about GP Synergy, the highest being feeling supported and expressing overall satisfaction. 2% of respondents provided suggestions for improvement, the most common area for improvement being paperwork/bureaucracy (<1% of all respondents).
Education program feedback is positive
Feedback about GP Synergy's education program has remained high despite program delivery remaining online for the latter half of 2020 and the first half of 2021, with 81% satisfied or highly satisfied.
6% of respondents made suggestions for improvements, with the most common relating to webinar structure, education program more broadly and education for registrars in later stages of training.
Satisfaction with in-practice supervision remains high
91% of respondents were satisfied or highly satisfied with their in-practice experience in the 2021.1 survey, an increase from 89% on the previous term. 5% of all respondents made positive comments about their in-practice experience and 1% made negative comments, which are being reviewed by the Education Executive.
Registrar interactions with GP Synergy team members are positive
The 2021.1 survey showed registrars' interactions with GP Synergy team members remain positive, with increases in most key areas. Registrars overwhelmingly felt that GP Synergy team members are always willing to help, are confident the information they provide is accurate, help them feel supported, are prompt to respond, and have the registrar's best interests at heart. Areas that have improved and have scope to improve further include providing individual learning and support, and more training advice.
Most registrars are satisfied with the term placement process
The majority of registrars are satisfied with GP Synergy's term placement process with 80% satisfied or highly satisfied, a small decrease on 82% the previous term. 4% were dissatisfied with the process to some degree. 8% of respondents expressed challenges with the process, the most common being competition for training places (1% of all respondents), placement timeline challenges (1% of all respondents) and availability of training places (1% of all respondents). This feedback is being reviewed by our senior management team.
